wmplayer.exe virus

hey guys, gotta make this quick. Everytime i start up my computer, norton tells it has an error, wmplayer.exe, which i know is a virus. Everything is running fine, but i'm not sure how to get rid of this virus. I've done a search, nothing really helped, and for whatever reason i can't seem to open my hijack this log so i can copy and paste it. I'm running windows 98SE and any help would be much appreciated.

wmplayer.exe is the Windows Media Player app. It can also be an infected file where JS_PSYME.V (Trend Micro's name) over-wrote the real file with it's payload.

If you suspect (or know) you have the infected version, try RAV and run their online scan. Link available from quicklinks in my signature. Specify that you want RAV to fix any problems it finds.

Apparently, you have the same problem as the poster in this thread.

Any repair from an AV will "gut" the infected file. So after one of the AV's gets rid of the infection, follow instructions on downloading a new player execute.
