Hi, I am running WMP 10 in Windows XP, but WMP 10 wont function properly. When trying to view windows media files on the internet in both Firefox and IE, the player crashes whie it is connecting. All I get is a "sorry for the inconvenience" and an option to send an error report. When playing files I already have downloaded, the player crashes on some and not on others. When it does crash, the error report talks about Morgan Stream Switcher as a solution but that didn't work. On a side note, when opening the internet files in Mozilla, the files work, but it uses an older skin (like Media Player classic).

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Only a shot in the dark, but could WMP 10 be installed to a different location to the previous version, giving you two versions installed at the same time?

I like to use the default location for the installation of Microsoft software. I have a separate drive for applications, but leave MS programs like WMP and IE to install at their default location on the C: drive.

Check in Add/Remove programs if WMP may be listed for two versions. If so, I would be inclined to remove both, then reinstall WMP 10.

I suppose you downloaded WMP 10. It may have been a bad download and you need to reinstall.
Edit: Also, does your system meet all the system requirements for WMP 10?

    Matt

I didn't have windows media installed in different locations, but I guess there was some sort of conflict with realplayer or quicktime. I unistalled both of those, and now everything works fine.

Well done!...and thanks for reporting how you fixed it.
Let us know if you may be able to pinpoint the reason.

    :)
