    My daughter lost her login password at start up anyway I can get to desktop to change it without doing system recovery?

    You can log into the main Administrator account and change the password there.

    XP Home lets you access the main administrator account in Safe Mode.

    XP Pro lets you access the main administrator account by pressing Ctrl/Alt/Del key combination twice at the Welcome screen.
