Winword.exe causing errors.

    Hello all,

    I am new to the site, so please forgive any stupid mistakes.

    I am running Windows XP pro on a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. I use Office 2003 Professional, and I use Firefox as my primary browser. Lately, my computer seems to freeze up completely whenever I try to upload or download anything. When I reboot and load up Outlook, I get a message that says Microsoft Word has encountered an error and needs to close.

    I have checked in Task Manager and can see that Winword.exe is running even though I have not started up Word at all. When I check my Event Viewer, I see the following entry: Faulting application winword.exe, version 11.0.6502.0, stamp 424d964d, faulting module winword.exe, version 11.0.6502.0, stamp 424d964d, debug? 0, fault address 0x0003da8c.

    Legionsworld - Welcome to the Board :)

    Try repairing Word - Help > Detect and Repair or go via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel > MS Office (or Word if a standalone install) > Change/Remove and select the Repair option in the dialogue box which appears.
