windows Xp running problems

    Hello, I am having problems with windows xp, when it boots up
    it seems to be taking longer to boot and when evenytually it does the desktop comes up and i get the following errors
    windows cannot find unwise.exe also could not load unwise.exe
    and windows cannot find C:\windows\unwise.exe i am able to connect to the internet and also view some of the files on the pc
    but can,t run progs from desktop or progs menu also from control panel any suggestions a way round this also unable to
    go system restore root ... thanks to all rodger....

    You have problems. Could be a virus but it is hard to say what to do first since you can't run anything.

    I'd try a repair installation first to prevent data loss:

    Then, run your AV immediately.

    After that, refer to any of the many threads on this BBS for info on cleaning up spyware/adware.
