Windows XP repair stalls

    Using the reinstallation CD to repair my Windows XP, I get to the point where it has deleted a bunch of files and it says "Setup is examining folders..." and it stops. It has been there over an hour. What can I do to proceed, now that many of the files have been deleted.

    Why was the "Repair" necessary?
    A clean Install would have been less obtrusive. Neil.
