I remember using RegClean for Windows 98. I was wondering if there was a version for Windows XP. Does anyone know if there is a version of RegClean for Windows XP Professional?

    Charlesvar,

Thanks for the download sites. I downloaded Registry First Aid. It works great! Thank you! :D

A number of online sources claim that RegClean 4.1a, no longer supported by MS (was it ever?) and unavailable on their site, is incompatible with XP but, so far as I can tell, it works quite well.

It wouldn't hurt, I suppose, to have another registry cleaning program but, so far, I haven't found the need for one.

    Hey Jim,

*It wouldn't hurt, I suppose, to have another registry cleaning program but, so far, I haven't found the need for one.*

    I have a cross-checking fetish.

I have fetishes, too, but cross-checking isn't one of them. :D

About 5 "-7" on the ground right now (2230 EST), with the promise of more tomorrow ... and it's not even winter yet!

Okay, I missed something, guys. Reg Cleaner doesn't work with NTFS, and I know why you have Fat32, Charles (dual booting) but, Jim, you have XP on your laptop and desktop, right? And you can use Reg Cleaner because you are using Fat? Huh?? Why aren't you using NTFS?

    Johanna

    Dear doubly confused Johanna ...

Truthfully, I didn't know that RegClean isn't supposed to work with XP/NTFS. It works with WinNT (which uses NTFS), so why not XP?

I have Fat32 on my C: (OS) partition because I was advised to by folks who know far more than I do, but NTFS on my other partitions.

Because I have read all the Fat vs. NTFS debates on this Board, I am curious to the reason your more knowledgeable friends reccommend Fat for the OS. I try to keep an open mind! :D
