    Hey,
After a complete reinstall of the Windows XP Pro SP2 I would like to try out Windows Messenger and compare it to Trillian which I've used for years.

    I have two questions:

    1) How do you make Messenger save your login info so it auto logs in every time?

    2) Is it possible to have Messenger load only when you open Outlook Express and not on system startup?

    Thanks Allot

Open Windows Messenger,go to Tools>Options>Preferences tab, uncheck "Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts." If you check "Allow Windows Messenger to run in background," it will open when you open OE and will remain running when you close OE. Uncheck it and it should close when you close OE. Click OK to save any changes and to close the Options window.

For the signing in, first sign out. Then click "Sign on as another user." In the box that opens, fill in the password for the same account then check the "Sign me in automatically box," click OK. That should sign you back in on the same account and sign you in automatically thereafter.

    Hey,
Does anyone know if you can tweak Messenger so that you'll have more than the default sound's? The one I'd really like to tweak is when a message is recieved.

In Trillian you get a beep whenever someone sends a message to you.

In Messenger you only get a sound if the messenger window is closed or hidden. If you have a chat box up and in front of you there is no sound when a new message is recieved.

I'd like to be notified of new messages all the time.

    Thanks
    Rockit
