    I have this problem with windows XP loggin in.

    When I boot up, everything goes fine, but then when i reach the log in screen where it says " Loading your personal settings" that window takes a very long time to load, and then everything works fine. But then about 10-15 minutes later the winlogon.exe CPU usage in the task manager goes to 99 percent usage and i cant do anything! Is this a virus or something wrong with windows ( heh one of many things im sure).

    Can somebody help please.

    Copy and paste this in the address bar of a new window;
    javascript:navigator.userAgent
    Then copy and paste the resulting page here.

    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; {F4507065-B974-488F-9DEB-A71113EB5C69})

    Thats what i got when i copy/pasted javascript:navigator.userAgent

    If i cant figure it out then will just do a trusty format, that always works

    Check the registry for the guardian key on this path;
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\Guardian
    If present, right click and export, then save it as guardian.txt. Open the text file, select all, copy and paste the contents here.

    No its not there, is that a bad thing (i'm not good with regisrty stuff)

    Anyways i tried disabling the 16 bit stuff in msconifg, and it didnt do much so i did a complete system restore to about 2 days ago and eveything seems to be working fine. Just finished a complete scandisk on both HD's and virus, ad-aware, and defrag and it all looks good. Thanks for you help anyways Dave.

    Bad? No. I was just expecting it to be there. The symptoms you're having along with this result...{F4507065-B974-488F-9DEB-A71113EB5C69} led me to believe you have a Look2Me malware infection. Glad all is well now. If problems recur, do post back. :)
