My Windows XP has the latest version of the Internet Explorer.
I'm finding diffulty opening certain photos/pictures attachments to my email messages. Even though I have downloaded a software that would supposedly enable me to view every picture files, I'm still finding problems because I'm unable to see some of the files, or graphics.

My friend sent me lots of photographs in a compressed file, and I noticed "MME folder" when I was clicking and trying to figure out what was wrong. Even though I have unzipped the file I still cannot open the attachment. I get a message that my computer does not have a program to open it. I searched the Microsoft website, and if I understand it correctly, the latest version of the Internet Explorer does not support MME file attachments. If that's the case, how can I fix this problem so that I'm able to view it?

    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

    Welcome Marie

This is the definition of MME files that i found on the interent:
A multipart file in the Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) format; often created as the result of sending e-mail with attachments in AOL. The files in a multipart MME file can be "opened" (unarchived and separated into individual files) using Winzip or a similar program.

The question, did you "unzip" the compressed file. Assuming the answer to be yes then I would want to know what the file extension(s) are after the compressed file was unzipped.

    :)

    Hi Jim,

Now, I'm not sure what I did. I first unzipped, then zipped, went back and forth because I couldn't open the folders.

Anyway, I found that it's the following:
    C_Progra~1_Americ~1.0A_download_Judy.zip.zif

    It's in the following folder:

    C:\DocumentsandSettings\desktop\Judy

    Thank you :)

Marie, this is the correct fine name?

    C_Progra~1_Americ~1.0A_download_Judy.zip.zif

    Could it be .....zip.zip

If that is the case then you probably double zipped a file. That is to say, you ziped a file that was already zipped. If I'm going down the right road here, you need to unzip the file and then unzip it again and you then, with a little luck and holding your tongue the right way, be able to access the files.

Give that a try and post back ;)

I should also mention.... that if it is a zif file type and not a type there is a problem as I've only seen this file type associated with MAC OS not windows :)

    Jim,

Maybe I'm not doing something right. I proceeded after reading your notes, trying many times, and now I get the following message:

Not a valid Win 32 application

    What's that?

    Brett,

I'm just trying to open this file :

    C_Progra~1_Americ~1.0A_download_Judy.zip.zif

    an email attachment.

I don't think I will be able to open this file because it's in another application and not Windows.

I keep getting error messages and the last one I got was:

Not a valid Win 32 application
