windows xp behaving erratically

    Since yesterday I have some trouble with this laptop computer of mine, namely everything is behaving oddly yet I can't pinpoint anything exactly. Some windows are opening twice, some aren't opening at all when I click them, files are in great disorder everytime I open my documents/my music/my pictures or any of those folders . Some programs are very sluggish and I have some weird java script errors come and go.

    Bottom line is that there is lots of disorder but not catastrophic yet . Can you recommend how to diagnose the problem and fix it :confused:

    As another test I would run Error Checking (chkdsk) on the drive. See Help and Support.

    panda software found a virus so I'll see if I can get rid of it
