Hi all. I discovered this small registry tweak a few days ago. It involves changing the value of the MouseHoverTime registry key. By changing the value you can decrease or increase the amount of time you want the mouse to hover over an icon before the tooltips appear. This tweak is similar to the menushowdelay tweak in which once you change the value of it you will notice that the delay in the menus of the Start menu have changed as well.

To apply this tweak follow the steps below.

    1. Click Start< Run and type regedit and press enter
    2. Browse to Hkey_Current_User< Control Panel< Mouse
    3. Locate the MouseHoverTime key
    4. Highlight it and right click it and select modify
    5. Change that value from 400 to 1 and click ok
    6. Close the Registry Editor and reboot the computer for the change to take affect

This tweak works on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Its interesting that all the tweak sites that I have visited I have never heard of this tweak before until I found it by chance on another forum. :)

Google produces 1,090,000 hits on this.

One needs to understand this timing is measured in milli-seconds and the real downside with a setting this low - a tooltip pop-up any time your mouse cursor passes over an icon. Not really what I'm looking for in a tweak. Then again - What ever blows your skirt up.

    ;)
