Is anyone else getting any problems with windows update?
In the last couple of weeks I have been receiving the usual update notifications but its seems to be the same patch it wants me to download everytime and im getting quite concerned about this, because according to my instalation history, it has been downloaded about 5 times and still keeps saying i need it. Is it possibly it just reminding me all the time or is this a big problem? the patch is the newest security one Q823559 its there in my properties of add/remove progs and the installation history says it was successfull so im beat lol any help would be very much appreciated.

    thankyou!

Thanks very much and for your help i will try that, im also very happy about the info about getting the ME defrag which makes a big difference its like ten times faster and done it fully.

Well since im here i have a worse problem there is a trojan in my system and it seems to be growing I ran mcafee to get rid, its said it deleted it, then it came back, i ram my AVG several times and it said it was healing it but it still keeps coming back!

It is called bridge.exe avg calls it trojan 4d or something it satrted off as just bridge.exe but now there is bridge[1].exe, bridge[2].exe and bridge[3].exe everytime i come back on an connect my avg background scanner keeps popping up with this, does anyone know how i can get rid of this its driving me mad lol.

Download, install and immediately update Spybot and Ad-aware. Links are in my signature. Run Spybot twice, deleting all it finds. Then run Ad-aware and delete all it finds. Open my Computer, right click C: and choose properties then disk cleanup. Check all boxes and click ok. When done, reboot. Download HijackThis from here, unzip to a permanent folder and open. Click scan then save log. Once saved it will open in notepad. Click edit>select all, edit again>copy. Paste the results here. Don't fix anything with it yet! Someone experienced with the logs will tell you what/how to fix.

Thankyou i will keep that in mind incase it happens again as i had done search this morning on it and found a program which seems to have completely got rid of them its called spyware sweeper and i would recomend it to anyone you get a choice of a pay version or free version and it also stays scanning in the background to protect you from spyware whilst browsing, i had already had ad-aware 6.0 but that didnt help it gets rid of some but wasnt finding it. I think this place is great and will use this place alot and help other peeps with probs too.
    Thanks very much
    regards

    Well to each his own

SpyBot and Adaware are the best and most common and free to boot.

pest patrol takes third place but is way far behind

even further down the line is spywaresweeper.
and I doubt it has taken care of the ever evolving bridge.dll or sometimes seen as a run item

    Bridge X rundll32.exe ...Bridge.dll Flingstone.com browser hijacker

Yes, Spybot is very good, thanks for posting back. It is a shame you pay for Spysweeper, and Spybot is for free.

I seem to remember reading that SpySweeper costs nothing to download, but then when you run it, finds all sorts of baddies, which SS will not remove them until you buy the pay version. Even worse, some of the baddies found were not necessarily on the PC. Maybe my memory is going.
