Resolved Windows Update stopped working

My toshiba laptop recently got one problem.
After i shut down the laptop, windows start to install update before shutdown.
After 30 minutes, the update installation stalled.

(Installing Update 2 of 3...... do not power off or unplug your machine)

Even my previous XP desktop didn't experience these problems before.
Why would this happen?

p/s: I've updated my system specs a week before.

 

yes indeed it shuts down.
my dad and me got annoyed because of the time taken to install updates is so so long.
windows xp didnt have this problem before.
why installing win7 updates is longer than winxp??

 

It could have been a huge upgrade. SP1 perhaps ?

 

Yeah i think so because i saw this:
Configuring Windows... (44%) do not shut down your computer.
now updating win7 just take around 10-15 mins.
