    Dennis,
I had no problems with KB913466 or any of the other updates. (I too downloaded to the hard disk and installed from there.)

According to MS06-007, it replaces MS05-019 which is KB893066. You could try uninstalling that one prior to installing KB913466.

Hmm ... ... I misread "windows download site" as "Microsoft Download Center" which is from where I downloaded KB913446. Whiskeyman provided a link and I would try that approach before uninstalling KB893066.

Same here. Tried from Microsoft Update, got Error Code: 0x80242006 .

Going to see if I can get it to install from MS Update.

Yea, the one coming from the Windows Update site (be it automatic or the "regular" Windows / Microsoft Update) is failing for at least 99% of all people. MS is aware. Download from the Technet web site (links provided above) instead.

    Observation --
I never use "Auto-Update ", but as a desperate attempt today I did .. it failed twice. Problem is, with this method, I did NOT receive any screen message saying the update failed. My guess, many users tomorrow will be surprised when they notice "updates icon" re-appear.

I had the same problem and used Whiskeyman's link and it downloaded and installed from there with no problem.

Better not to download anything from Windows Update site directly since the downloaded files are not directly accessible. Better to use their nos., search them & download them onto a known folder on harddisk. You can then integrate them into your copy of XP or keep them aside for later installations.

Download from the Technet site is 'good' - installed OK with no subsequent problems.

I downloaded the file again to compare with the one I installed yesterday. They are identical which indicates that the problem was with the deployment, not with the update itself.
