    Hello you all,
Did the windows update and restarted system as directed, but now my system does not boot up at all, it has gotten locked up on a loop(tries to boot up and then it restarts by itself)
I have tried every single mode but no luck, I can not go into command mode. any sugestion besides restoring the os and loosing all my data?
    Thanks,
    Dario:(

I'll point you to an article on using the Recovery Console which runs from the install CD so should load fine. May be something you can do from there. If not and given the fact that you can't get in far enough to see what is causing the error, you may be forced to at least try a "repair" install of XP and if that fails, wipe the system and install from scratch. Bummer since as you said, all your data will vanish.

If/when you get it fixed, I'd suggest turning off the "reboot on error" thing so it will stop at a BSOD (blue screen of death) since that will usually give you enough information to fix the problem.

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

    Thanks Newt,
    2 updated news:
Good news, I was able to take my crash hard drive to another winXP run pc and retrieved my files.
Bad news: there was no other way to repair pc #1 but by re-installing everything from scratch.
Sadly I have an HP that requires 7 restore cd's (no I am not drunk).
A word of advised: windows update, do not install it unless you are absolutely sure you need it and even if you needed see what is more important for you: a new update or 2 days worth of being confine to reprogram your pc.
