Hi all, I'm back again to pick everyones brains :D

I have setup an RRDTool piece of software on a Windows XP SP3 machine called cacti.

It requires the use of Apache, and some other programs.... Anyway, This machine has recently been rebuilt and it is not a factory build machine but rather one I have built myself with a Gigabyte motherboard, AMD processor and 2SATA hard drives set with RAID 1 mirroring.

I had some trouble trying to get all the drivers installed again but managed in the end and don't know if this is related.

But everytime I re-start the PC, or turn it off for what ever reason, upon restart, practically EVERY windows service has stopped!!!!:eek::confused: Once I start them manually again they stay on until the machine is powered down again.

I have set them to start automatically, set the properties to restart services when they stop, etc but this is not helping in the slightest.

I have searched online for a resolution but all I have found is people having the services stop randomly whilst the machine is still running.

This is not the case with me, like I said, once I start them after the machine is turned on they stay on until the machine is powered down. This is something I need sorting as I just got this cacti program running and want it for monitoring internet usage in various locations from now onwards.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.:D

Can you give at lease five examples of services that stop? And I'm guessing that all of them are set to AUTO Start.

    OK,

    1. Computer browser
    2. Network Connections
    3. Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing
    4. TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
    5. Print Spooler

The first three are the ones that are restricting what I am doing, but I am having other problems and they could also be due to various services not running.

In fact, it is easier to say what IS running as there is only 5 which are:

    1. Fast User Switching Compatibility
    2. plug and Play
    3. Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    4. Terminal Services
    5. Windows Audio

The rest are all off and yes they are set to start automatically not manually.

    Regards :)
