Hi. I posted a thread in the win98 forums about memory proplems with my graphics card. Look Here. Well, at the time i thought it was just win 98 having a problem, so i 'hid' half the ram from windows as sugested in one of the last posts of that thread. That made it work normal again.

I've recently upgraded to windows XP pro, thinking this would fix the problem (and other reasons too!), but its got the same problems. I've tried hiding the ram using the method stated at the end of my 98 thread, but XP can still see all 512 MB of the RAM. I cant just pull out one of the cartrigages, its just one!

I want to know how i can hide a certain amount of RAM like i did in 98 to XP. Also, if any one has any new ideas on the problem, feel free to post them here, greatly apreciated. I know now that its most likly to be the graphics card, so i'll get a new one when i have the cash.

    Thanks in advanced,

    -J

OK...here goes. [Deep breath] Well, my graphics card (Hercules 3D Prophet 4000xt 32MB) doent work as it should when there is more than 256MB of RAM in the computer. Unless 98 and XP share a problem with large amounts of RAM that is. Well, everything DX doesnt work at all, andything 3D doesnt function as it should. Short of replacing the card (which i plan to do when i have the cash), i need to 'hide' exactly half of my 512 MB of RAM from win XP, so it can only see 256MB of it. This solved the problem in 98, and i dont see why it shouldnt in XP. How can i go about doing this?

Need more detail? Well read the first and the last posts in my thread. Miss out the middle, it was indsicive (sp?).

    thx,

    -J

Well....It's way over my head. I don't use DX or 3D and I don't understand the concept of hiding ram to make something work.

There will be someone here who can help I'm sure. There are some pretty sharp cookies on this BBS.;)
