I tried to open Photo Gallery and it would not run. I checked the folder contents and there is only one sub-folder labelled en-US and it is empty. I downloaded Windows Essentials again but it did not resolve my problem. any help as how to get Photo Gallery fixed?

    Hello dufferpaul75,

What happens when you type "photo gallery " in the startmenu search line?

If your sure you don't have it you get it from here:
    http://explore.live.com/windows-live-photo-gallery?os=other

also see: You may not have a folder/subfolder link but you should have an icon shortcut on the top of list. <This is what I have.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9429/learning-windows-7-manage-photos-with-live-photo-gallery/

This downloads "wlsetup.exe" which is installation of windows live essentials 2001. Popup will allow you to custom pick which programs to install. Suggest you use this and uncheck all but Photo Gallery.

"C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\WLXPhotoGallery.exe" is location and name of the executable.
    ------------------
I have downloaded this and am installing as I type, will have more info imput in a few minutes...

I tried the search and it gave me a window to click on to download Windows Essentials. I treid downloading and installing again and I get a message that it is already up to date. Should I delete photo gallery from the program file anmd re-try? Or should I delete Windows Essential and re-try.
I appreciate your help. Don't stop.

    Hi dufferpaul,

I hope I catch you before you disappear from board. If it were I I would make double sure I didn't have this, mainly because I know I installed it and stubborn streak would not allow me to believe it wasn't on my harddrive somewhere. I'd consider it a challenge and do searches first, as follows:
    >Type photo gallery in the startmenu search line. Did it showup in the list of items found?
    >How about the executable? Type WLXPhotoGallery.exe Did it show up? >NOTE* I also had a WLXPhotoGalleryRepair.exe show up? ( "windows live essentials" install has a repair/change option as well as uninstall.)

    >Do you have a shortcut link in your startmenu program list for "photo gallery" or a folder category named "windows live "?

    >Find a picture such as *.bmp or *.jpg and right click>open with and see if "photo gallery" is offered.

If all of the above failed, I now wave white flag and repair this via "control>programs and features ". Don't delete, Use the control>programs and features.

    >Click on "windows live" this will give you 2 options to uninstall or change/repair. Try a repair.

Last thing I do is uninstall all and cleanly download and install once again. Use my link, provided in thread #2 of this post, as this is the latest version. There is an older one available and we don't want that one.

    Hi Goddez1,
OK, I tried typing in the two names and I get a message that error code 0x80070002 occured.
However when I took a jpg file and selected open with, photo galley was an option and I chose it. It worked! But I still cannot run the program when I select it from the start menu.
    Thank you for your patience.

Two or three things we can do here that will be easier than having to face issues/causes for error 0x80070002 <-Not looking forward to that at all.

It may just be a borked link. As for failure of a find on a file search, I don't know what your settings are but rather than deal with that right now.
    Download this search utility:
    http://www.mythicsoft.com/page.aspx?type=agentransack&page=home
    OR this one:
    http://www.voidtools.com/

Install it and search for WLXPhotoGallery.exe

Once found click on it and see if it opens. If so make a new shortcut to it and put it where you want it.

As for existing startmenu shortcut, try a right click "properties check ", see what path is being used to executable or select "open file location ".

    --------------------
Second choice is to uninstall all and reinstall fresh:
    >Remember to temporarily disable any virus program or security program that may interfere while with this update.
    >Don't know what issues this may cause with live mail so you may wish to ask others or do a "study up ". That said:

Let's remove and reinstall Windows Live in order to isolate the issue.
    Here's how:
    1) Perform Windows update:
    http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx

    2) Uninstall Windows Live Essentials:
    http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=64db5c80-85e4-49fe-bf07-cb08ffc5dd53

    3) Browse your computer to C:\Program Files then delete the Windows Live folder if available.

    4) Download and install Windows Live Essentials from http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other

I tried all the suggestions and I still have the same results. For some reason I all I get is an empty folder labelled EN which I assume means english. I get the same error code message also. There must be something blocking the complete down load but I have no idea what. I have Kaspersky protection program.
