Every time I boot up my computer a Windows Explorer window comes up automatically. Somehow I have activated Windows to access my "Programs" folder every time I boot up. It is very annoying and I can't figure it out. I've looked through regedit and a series of other options but nothing seems to address my problem. Please help.
    Thanks

Look for a stratup program in the registry, or in the properties of your Startup folder, that is missing quotes.

A startup program written like this:
    C:\Program Files\<folder>\<filename>
may open a folder, particularly if you have one called "Program" or upgraded from a foreign language version of a previous OS.

    But like this:
    "C:\Program Files\<folder>\<filename>"
    should start the program.

You might want to check the format they are written in, too.

If your startup programs are in the DOS format:
    C:\Progra~1\<folder>\<filename>

change it to the full path, with quotes:

    "C:\Program Files\<folder>\<filename> "

I'm not sure whether you're annoyed that Windows Explorer opens on startup, or that it opens in "Programs ".

Is there an Explorer icon in your Startup folder? If so, and you'd like Explorer to open in a different folder, change the settings in the target window in the icon's properties. For instance, C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n, /e, c:\ will open a double-paned window in the C: folder.

    Hope this helps.
