I am getting error 0x80070003 each time backup is done - Windows 7 system with external drive.
I had "Dropbox" installed and an update came through - this locked up my PC with very high data consumption and I got Telstra - my carrier to follow up
I then aborted and done a un-install of this product - I have checked control panel to ensure it was gone. It is gone but appears that it was corrupted on connection / install .
I get this same warning every time backup has run
I have "CCleaner" installed also Norton 360 and have run "Registry Clean" with both but can not get rid of it !
I have also download repair /fixes from for this error code from 4 suppliers that come up on searches but I have to purchase but how do I know if there is one that will fix this frustrating problem ?
Can anyone offer a solution to this ????

    Regards....Keanebill

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Never consider purchasing a 'solution' for a problem - inevitably they will not work and are a scam. Instead log onto forums such as WindowsBBS or Microsoft Answers where you will receive assistance FOC.

You do not state in your post which method of backup you are using - assuming Windows Backup the following may be relevant .....

Sorry PeteC I posted the same link you did. I do not know if this is relevant did you unlink your device before you performed an uninstall.

Windows 7 Backup is known to be very flaky - did it work satisfactorily before the Dropbox/update incident?

It would be worthwhile to try resetting the Windows Backup to it's default configuration .....

Windows 7: Backup User and System Files - Reset to Default Configuration

OTOH you will be better off using third party software for backups .....

For Data only I recommend Synchback the SE version of which I rely on totally for data backup, either on a schedule or manually. It has never let me down.

For a System Image I use Acronis, but there is only a paid version available. However EaseUS Free Backup Software is recommended by other BBS members, but I have no experience of it.
