Last two days, experienced a devulge number of Windows 7 updates, taking up much time downloading and install. Is Microsoft updating files or is this due to a fault with my computer. One or two files fail but succede at the next update. I would appreciate to learn if this is general to other computers. Booby.

The second Tuesday of the month (march 11th this month) is when many updates will come down.... But every day is an adventure. THe good news is that it is generally better to get updates that fix things then to suffer from dealing with the broken item or security flaw.

For some unknown reason, seven updates where available, but oh dear for some reason they took three hours to install in computer, as it stated not to close or shut down computer. It is the first time ever that I had three hours to wait, showing do not close or power off computer. As they say, there is always a first time for everything.

Hi BobbyScot, When the WU is doing it's thing - are you using the computer?
If you are doing CPU intensive work at the same time, or you have Scheduled Maintenance going on as well, you can expect WU to take some time.
It will depend on the speed of your comp to carry out the processes.
My Downloads that day were loaded in minutes. No problem. Neil.

I would have shut down the comp and started it next time as usual.
To my way of thinking - the risk would be the same as a power outage.
MS Updates usually start again once the comp is up and running. I had this happen more than once with W98SE and XP and Vista and was expecting the worse - but after the power came back on - it either started with the usual message that Windows has experienced an abnormal shut down etc. or just continued normally.
It could be due to abnormal traffic on your internet connection causing the slowdown. Neil.

Updates Microsoft, Help people carried out a remote repair and reinstalled a number of 79 updates, carried out during the night. Switching on computer back on line this morning showed all 79 updates had failed. No further forward. Bobby.
