Windows 2000 ugrade

    will I lose all my files ad programs if I upgrade my O/S from Windows98 to 2000.

    No (or at least you shouldnt unless it all goes horribly wrong)

    I'd do a full backup first though !

    if you upgrade to 2K (ie have it as your only O/S) then all apps will stay the same

    if however you install 2K alongside 98 and have dual boot you'll need to re-install the apps you want to use under 2k as their registry entries etc will not be there

    That is unless you choose to format your drive for NTFS instead of FAT!

    If you do want to use NTFS (which I much prefer), just do the upgrade which should leave all your programs working (unless there are some old ones that just won't run on 2K). Then you can convert the drive from FAT32 to NTFS.

    All your stuff should still be fine.
