My System Restore is no longer doing daily check points. I have checked several things. One of things I checked was to see if my Task Scheduler was started. I found it stop. So I tried to start it. However, I get an Error Code 1717: Interface is unknown. Does anyone know how to correct this problem so I can start the Task Scheduler?

Is the event log service started?

The Event Log Service has to be running to be able to start the Task Scheduler Service. That should solve your problem

Event Log service for sure and EventSystem (COM+ Event System) also - possibly. Not sure about that?

Sometimes when SR quits, you can toggle the on/off and get it going again. Just an XP quirk.

You will lose any SR points you have, but it might get it going again. It shouldn't need to be set through the task scheduler, unless you need more than one restore point per day.

Thanks Johanna for the tip, but I already got the restore feature on the road again. I don't necessarily know which service was causing the problem, but I just selected the normal startup of services in the System Config folder and I was in business again. I don't remember turning off any service off that would affect restore, but one or more of those little rascals was causing my problem.

Thanks again for the info. I learned many years ago that many heads are better than one. If nothing else, it get the brain working better.
