I’m having a problem with Windows 2000 that is eluding me. The system goes through loading bios but when it tries to start Windows 2000 it gets past the point where it loads the network and then a window comes up called "Update" and another window comes up inside of that one called "Statusâ€. After that it just hangs there and I can’t do anything with it. If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

First thing I'd try is starting the recovery console in command line mode and doing chkdsk /r on all your partitions.

If you can get it to boot at all, a good AV scan using one of the on-line scanners would be an excellent idea. If it won't boot AND you have space on a partition to load another copy of the OS, do that so you can boot and then the AV scan.

Also if you can get it to boot, open a cmd window and do sfc /scannow to check for and replace any bad system files.
