Win10 app Phone Link

I connect my android phone to Windows10 using Phone Link and text from my desktop. I tried to establish a link on my laptop as well configuring phone link and ended up with messages by google. How did I start configuring Phone Link and end up with messages by Google? Could it be related to how Microsoft updates their Phone Link app? I hope someone has some insight. thank you in advance!

Were you asked to sign in with your Google account?

 

I was asked to sign into my Microsoft account duing the Phone Link setup. However I also have a google account and the icon on my phone says messages. So even though I was using Microsofts Phone Link on the laptop to setup a connection from my android phone to the laptop, my setup may have been overridden by google messages connecting from my phone to my laptop? Thank you.
