I have a pc running win 98 se and i am planning to make a clean install of XP on it.

Now my query is this, i have a Laser Printer Fujitsu Print Partner 10V and i would like to ask if someone have ever came across a driver for this printer to work with XP. Actually the driver i've found is for win 95 and i doubt it whether it woud work with xp.

    Any ideas please ?

    Thanks!

You will be surprised at XP's versatility with drivers. After your install, reboot and hook up and plug your printer in. I'm betting either the generic on board drivers are enough, or the backwards capability XP has, will suffice. I have an ancient Panasonic KX-P1123 that I use for 3 part forms (was maybe bought in 1995?) and XP knows it and runs it w/o any "special" drivers. Have fun with your upgrade! You are gonna love XP! (Make sure you try out the Luna Blue scheme- it's bee-yoo-tee-full!!)

What can you expect from a LUNAtic? Luna Blue (in the current vernacular) ***** (aw, Arie), big time! ... stick with Windows Classic. :D

Except for that one mental abberation :))), the Luna Lass's advice is usually quite good.

Windows Classic is for people who like black and white TV, and phones with cords and rotary dials, not buttons, and people who like to get stuck :p in the ancient past, instead of embracing the new and bold future...

Windows Classic is stark and drab, with sharp corners and austere menus. Luna Blue is friendly eye candy, easy to look at and live with.

Did you decide between Home and Pro versions yet? Will you be doing your own install? You may find these links useful.

i made the clean install of Win XP Pro and everything is working fine except the printer (which i was assuming). However, when i am plugging in the printer ... xp recognises it with its name as Fuujitsu Print Partner 10V and it installs the driver. Actually when i print preview on something i manage to see the preview ... however, when i try to print the printer goes on the red error button and it does not print.

I've contacted the Fujitsu helpdesk and unfortunately, they informed that a driver for this printer is not available (for XP). However, they informed me that i can use the HP Laserjet 4 driver which should work fine.

Is there anyay how i can tell XP to install that particular driver from its driver database ?

    Thanks!

Thank goodness for choices because you're incorrect on every point. :p
    • 1) "Windows Classic is for people who like black and white TV. "

      I didn't like B&W TV when I had it.

      2) "Windows Classic is for people who like phones with cords and rotary dials, not buttons."

I confess ... one of my four phones has a cord, but all have button pads, memory and speed dial. (BTW, what kind of dial is there, other than rotary?)

      3) "Windows Classic is for people who like to get stuck in the ancient past, instead of embracing the new and bold future... "

I dunno ... I've been using XP Pro for 2½ years. "New and bold future "? Bleah!

      4) "Windows Classic is stark and drab, with sharp corners and austere menus. "

No, it's neat, clean and functional. Why on earth do you think M$ calls it "Classic "? This isn't colorful enough for you? Guess not, but it suits my tastes. :p

      5) "Luna Blue is friendly eye candy, easy to look at and live with.

My daughter is friendly eye candy, easy to look at and live with. Luna Blue, on the other hand, is gaudy, garish, hard on the eyes, and a royal PITA. If I want to look at a cartoon I'll read the comics.
I repeat: Except for her one mental abberation :))), the Luna Lass's advice is usually quite good.

    Max ...

Sorry to have digressed above ... obviously, I have too much time on my hands. :D

I couldn't find a driver for the LaserJet 4 on HP's site (Johanna's link ... I had already looked before she posted), believe it or not, but there's a downloadable one here. Just save it to your hard drive and point the installer to it when it asks where to find the driver.
