I'm running Win 98SE with 256 MB, PC133 RAM. Would I notice an appreciable difference if I add another 256 MB, PC133 RAM?

The best way to judge that is to run SYSMON and monitor Swap File in use (and free memory), while you run your normal, and heavier than normal mix of applications.

If you always have free memory, adding more ram will result in more (& unused) free memory.

If swapfile in use is around 20-30MBs or less, adding more ram will probably not result in much of a performance gain. If more than that is in use, then you should see some performance gain since you are reducing the use of the swapfile.

All of this is premised on the fact that your motherboard can in fact support more than 256Mbs.
