I want to buy a graphics card for my PC, however i'm unsure as to which one will be compatible with the PC's specs.

I play games such as NFS Most Wanted, Call of Duty, Flight Simulator 2004....etc and the graphic is not that great but just average.

The mobo has a 1 Universal AGP slot (1x/2x/4x) and no PCI-E slot, which most newer cards use.

    My sys specs are:

    Windows XP Professional SP2
    Intel P4 1.6 GHz
    RAM 768
    PSU-350W
    Onboard VGA SiS650

Given the above info, could you please recommend a few cards that would be suitable or would make a difference to the current graphics quality of the games.

    I know it's an old PC :)

    Regards,

I might throw the question back to you :)

Look up the game's System Requirements. They probably have minimum requirements and recommended requirements. You can do a websearch of the Game's name and the terms "system requirements ". That will tell you what you are aiming for.

Your system is (now) modest with regards hardware, a new graphics card should handle any of the requirements without needing to spend much money.

Remember, you will still have a 1.6GHz P4 CPU and 768MB RAM (maybe 1GB after changing, if the graphics memory is no longer shared with the system memory).

The rest of your system is not very "powerful" nowadays, so just get a graphics card that can handle what you want it to do. Balance it with the rest of your system.

Look at what you can get in your price range. Check that it will meet the specifications (system requirements) of the programs you wish to run. You can put the model number of your selection into a websearch, along with the term "review" and see what people are saying about it.

As I said, match it to your system.

1x,2x,4X, check that it is compatible with AGP 4X and not AGP 8X only

Finding out the information for yourself will be more beneficial than us saying "buy this ".
