Does anyone know what EagleNT is?

I have the following entries relating to EagleNT in my Windows Registry:-

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_EAGLENT

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\EagleNT

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\LEGACY_EAGLENT

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\EagleNT

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_EAGLENT

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EagleNT

The entry in the Services keys give the ImagePath as C:\Windows\System32\drivers\EagleNT.sys however, this file does not exist.
I have done a search for EagleNT.sys on my computer but no file was found.

If possible, I would like to know what EagleNT is and what does it do?
    Is it harmful?
What is likely to have installed it on my system?
Can I safely delete these entries from the Registry?

I am running Windows XP Home SP2 fully upto date with all the latest Windows updates, McAfee Internet Security, Windows Defender.

    Thanks for your replies.

An interesting point concerning your links is that I used to run Norton Internet Security 2003 but uninstalled this in favour of McAfee Internet Security over a couple of years ago.

Do you think these entries could be a leftover from that?

If this is the case, do you think I could safely delete all these EagleNT entries from the Registry?

    Cheers John

    John

My strong inclination would be to leave well alone unless you are convinced that the entries are posing you a problem.

If you do delete export the entries first so that they can be returned if necessary.

I suggest you download jv16PowerTools and run the Registry Cleaner and see if they come up. The free trial is fully functional as I recall.

    Thanks Pete C

I already have jv16 powertools and running this tells me that there is a problem with :-

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\EagleNT
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\EagleNT
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EagleNT

    because C:\Windows\System32\drivers\EagleNT.sys does not exist.

    Cheers John

In that case feel free to delete with backup through jv16 - it is a cleaner which I use and trust and I have had no problems with it.
