I'm looking to do a quick diagnostic on my computer and I seem to have lost Scandisk. Is it still part of the OS or did MS get rid of it in XP?

Its called chkdisk - two ways to run:

Bring up HD > right click > properties > Tools - XP will do on next reboot.

An option to run thru a command prompt as well: run > chkdsk > enter. No reboot necessary.

    Regards - Charles

EDIT: I always opt for the scheduling on next reboot, chkdsk may slow down because of software accessing the HD or run into something that prevents it from finishing. On reboot, it runs before the system fully loads.
