    Is WEP a safe way to do an online purchase?

    My friend is buying sometihng online and would like to know that if his WEP thing will be enough to make sure no one can get his mom's CC#

    WEP is a security protocol for 802.11 wireless networks and it was designed to keep a wireless network secure. WEP has flaws and it isn't bullet proof. It will help protect your data if you set it correctly and use the highest encryption that your equipment can support. Changing your encryption key from time to time will make it harder.

    Making an online purchase is another story. You should only make online payments to websites that you trust. For more details, see the following link.
