    Hello, All,

Today I logged in using Mozilla Suite 1.7.2 and discovered that two of the websites I look at are acting "different ".

The first site, http://www.caboosehobbies.com, gave me an error message that read "The file / cannot be found. Please check the location and try again." I got this error message whether I attempted to access the site via bookmark, typed in address, or other link.

The second site, http://ogaugerr.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x, showed up in text form where it normally shows up in a more graphic form-i.e., color bars, tables, etc.

I tried accessing these from another computer with Mozilla Suite on it, and both sites came up just fine.

This leads me to believe that I have somehow corrupted my Mozilla Suite on my first computer, which leads me to 3 questions:

    (1) Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Mozilla Suite to cure this situation? And if so,

    (2) Do I need to back up my mozilla Profile again prior to uninstall/reinstall?

    (3) Is there a way to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    V/R,

    Mike

I have seen that type of error, in some cases. And, everything was ok next time. I tried NS7.1, NS 7.2( which is equivalent to Moz1.7.2), and Mozilla 1.7.3, and everything looked fine, from your link and from the bookmark. I rather not type in am address, because it could be a source of errors.
The second site looks ok, as well.
There is an advantage in having several similar program. One of them will work, or none of them.
If you cannot correct the situation, I suggest that you download Mozilla 1.7.3, and then uninstall and reinstall. But, before doing that, or further work, I suggest that you do the usual fixes, i.e. empty Cache, disable Quick Launch, if on, and delete the xul.mfl file from the profile, with Mozilla closed.
The profile would not be affected by uninstalling, but it is a good idea to copy the entire profile in a safe place, as a backup.
I don't think that it is a problem with your program. It sounds like an e-burp.

Thanks for the quick reply. I performed the basics you mentioned, and still have the problem, but will wait a few days before upgrading the browser version to see it things fix themselves as you say they might. I agree with you and Ramona-profile gets backed up periodicaly.

    Mike,

Both sites worked fine here, using Mozilla 1.7.3. I wonder if you have enabled both Java and JavaScript on this PC? The settings are in :
    Edit | Preferences | Advanced

    Ramona, Westside, et al,

This evening the sites just started working fine again, as if there had never been a problem. I now have the side of the machine open to see if there are little green men inside somewhere.

Thanks for all the help. I think the Forum scared the settings back into correction.

    V/R,

    Mike
