walign?

I didn't see it in previous win98 SE installations. I read about it in some MS and online docs but nothing conclusive. Nothing appeared here in the search on win9x.

I am always concerned about those applications that sit in the taskbar such as firewall, antivirus, malware, diskdetector ... since they may affect the other running programs such as games or browsers. If possible I like to cut the number down to minimum.

Question: Is it really beneficial for walign to sit on the taskbar ?

 

From what I can tell of it, no. It seems to only target Office installations, and then only aligns files located in the System folder.
