I have a warning event that pops up every minute or so on my System log and I wonder how can I stop it.

My system is win2000 sp3. I have a recent hacker attack and may have some worm/virus left which are not detected by Norton antivirus and Spybot S&D.

The Warning source is W3SVC Event ID 36 User N/A
Description is "The server fail to load application ". The error was "The specified metadata was not found ".

This warning only occurs when my computer is connected
to the LAN hooking up to my ISP, and will not appear
when I disconnect from the LAN, it also appears less frequently when there are traffic on the internet.

Can some one tell me what is happening and how can I fix this warning?

My advise? Ask yourself: can I really trust this computer again?

The only way I would handle this is a complete format & reinstall...

    IMHO

I don't think it is so serious, although PestPatrol also catches a bunch left behind. (seems no scanning program is perfect)

    Tony:

I have visited that site before, but it doesn't help much. Also, non subscribing member cannot trace the questions and threads therefore is left with the cure without the symptoms.

    To all:

I managed to stop the warning by stopping personal web manager. (I was lucky). Case solved.

However, I am still wondering what is the proper way to isolate and to diagnose this problem.

    Any thoughts?
