Windows Vista Volume display

Hello everyone,
I have a simple question but I am having a difficult time finding the answer. Can anyone tell me how to turn on the volume display on my laptop running Vista? On my old laptop when I adjusted the volume green lines would appear showing the adjustment. Any help would be appreciated.

Only to suggest reading in your laptop's User Guide (it's probably also under the manufacturer's program listings in All Programs or the Control Panel).

Does it list all the function keys (Fn) and what they do?

Your laptop does have built-in speakers? If the laptop doesn't have speakers, it won't have a "green lines" volume control, you use external speakers and adjust them with the Windows volume control (maybe combined with other controls, like the audio manager...they should have an icon in the Notification Tray).
