Windows Vista Vista update download location

Hi. My desktop is having all Vista updates (including Vista SP1 which is quite big size).

Now my friend wishes to update his new Vista installation. Can she avoid fresh download of all updates?

In short, which folder on my desktop will have downloads I already have?

Windows Update setting on my desktop is "Install updates automatically ".

I wouldn't think it's possible to migrate your updates to your friends system (someone may correct me if I'm wrong) but just in case you would still want it a standalone download of SP1 is available here.

When I installed SP1, it must have downloaded update somewhere on my disk. Which is that folder?

Any updates would be for your system. I don't use Vista but with XP the service packs were dynamic ie for my particular system (upgrades that weren't required weren't downloaded).

Your best bet would be a fresh standalone download, this should work on all systems with all parts of the SP downloaded.

Even if it doesn't help in your particular problem it would be usefull for fresh installs on you and your friends computer.

As far as where your windows update folder is I don't know but I will say again, even if you locate it it is unlikely to work on your friends system.
