Windows Vista Vista Quick Launch Bar

    Why has my carefully arranged sequence of icons suddenly started being displayed in almost, (total?), random order? For months, (years), these icons have always shown at their intended locations; now these locations change on an almost daily basis.

    How are they ordered? Neither my own sequence nor the seemingly random sequence are in any discernible order, numeric or alphabetic.


    Any simple explanation or solution?

    Have you inadvertently unlocked the Taskbar?

    No, sorry, I should have made it clear that the Taskbar, is, and has always been, locked.
