First of all, media center thats on the Windows MCE 2005 edition works as crappy like the MC in Vista so don't even bother to buy vista for your HTPC, second of all if you are still using MCE 2005 change it to some free software thats out there, MCE more or less ***** as using for all TV features.
And getting movies and music listening throw vista/mc and MCE is just hopeless, it never gets the way you want it.

And if one of you brave heroes out there have gotten MC on Vista to work good, I rely would like to know how you get it to find videos. I had kind of the same problem with MCE 2005 but there I could ad movies to media player library and then they were found in MC.. But in Vista it is Media Player 11, and this software rely gets your temper going, it refuses to find media on your computer.

    Last word.
Windows Vista do not let you do anything like you want it, it can't handle games nor can it handle applications very well, and the idea of using it on your HTPC is the worst thing you can do. Frankly Windows Vista is a disappointment, Im selling all my computers and converting to Apple.

    (I'm from Sweden don't correct my spelling :p )

    Tjenare Sverige,

I agree, my Vista MC wont even recognize my TV tuner that is installed on my pc and so I cant watch any tv. Further more nor will vista allow me any audio with my wintv outside of MCE. Vista is a dissapointment in the game department because it uses to many other resources while gaming.
Go back to xp is my opinion.

My Hauppage PVR-250 works great with the MC for watching TV! Lucky for me, as the Hauppage drivers are incompatible (as is the WinTV).

    Jo Tjena ;)

I almost got it to work a couple of hours ago, but just had a system crash and the screen went black, so I'm reinstalling it, again(5'th time).

I have to seriously give vista a try, I feel like I need to. I have gotten vista to install the tv-tuner, but the picture I get from it is horrible, next experiment is to get the files from -http://www.mcedev.com/ to work. If I can before I get another system crash, it is something with the drivers for the graphic card that gets it to crash, but I'm not quite sure what I can do to stop it, yet.

I seriously don't think they have any people who tests the OS before they ship it. Vista has so many faults that you could start to cry. If anyone from Microsoft should read this, Shame on you!

More ppl with MC problems give us your stories! :D

I and a whole bunch of people tested Vista for over a year before they released it.

You do know that drivers for things like TV cards are the responsible of the card maker don't you?

Did you run the upgrade advisor utility BEFORE you installed Vista to see all the devices in your system that weren't compatible?

Yea some devices I can live without for the moment, but the TV-tuner it didn't say anything about.

but problem with the library in mp11 is one of the most annoying thing I'm trying to fix now, and that is something I don't think any hardware can create. It seems like it cant find the music I have in the folder I would like to watch, really annoying.
