    Hi,

I just installed Vista RC1 on my PC today.

First impressions - Can't really see what Micro$oft have been doing for the past 6 years. :p

Anyway, I'll be having a good scoot around the beastie.

    Cheers.

You really will not see Vista until you install Vista RTM Gold.

You certainly will not get a good feel for Vista from RC1.

True. RC2 is way better than RC1 as well.

I did the same some days ago. the first exitement followed a hol.. sh..t
I was made aware, that certain programs like Incredimail, Alkohol 120 and Power DVD would no longer work with Vista..
    now I find out,
that my Logitech web cam does not work either and what I can see Logitech is not working on a new driver to support Vista.
secondly my DVD R+W and DVD R (both made by LG electronics) are not recognised by Vista.
Going into the Divice Manager and follow the instructions given by LG dont work
I wonder if some one here has a solution.

In case there is no solution, could I install XP on my slave drive or ext. hard drive and use bootmatic to switch between the two OS ??

XP will not allow an installation to what it believes is a removal disk device. If the external drive appears as a fixed disk to XP, and your BIOS supports USB boot devices, then it certainly is possible.

How this would sort your Vista issues is unclear.

For the devices that Vista has no on-CD driver, use Device Management. Ask it to Update the drivers for the problem Devices. Ask it to search the internet.

It usually will find the right driver from an internet search.

    You are right Bill,
It will not fix my problems with Vista but at least I could use my existing hardware again,
particularly the DVD R+W is the one I'm missing the most
    thankds anyhow for your coment
