    Hi Gary,

    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=9474

Not sure if you need the beta tools download for Vista Security Center for SpyBot to run on Vista or just for it show up on the SC.

    Regards - Charles

thanks for the link. this vista is definitely a different critter. cant believe how m.s. has changed so many variable from where they used to be to their new places.

if any of the users on this site want an internet security package that really works on vista then they should look at pccillian. it works without a hitch. i tried bitdefender and it locked up this new dell big time actually 3 times. i then found out that za is not even close to a vista product which really killed my opinion of them. trendmicros works.

    thanks again.....greg

I would be wary of PcCillin. Trend and Vista have had a few issues. I tried it on a RC version of vista and ended up with a nasty virus that Defender stopped by not letting the computer boot up.
The only Antivirus that I know work well with Vista are Anwil Avast home, Windows Live One Care, and they say that the new Vista ready version of Norton works pretty well.

i read some of the things on pccillian but honestly it installed without a hitch, updated, rebooted without any problems. i wouldnt put norton or mcafee on a system if it were given to me for free. both norton and mcafee have become so bloated and take so much processing power that they in my opinion have become worthless and honestly if you look at other chat rooms like this you will find tons of people with the same opinion.

my problem is i find it hard to understand how these security companies werent ready for vista. its not like they didnt have time to get ready for it and with the delays vista had they should have been ready.

    Hi greg,

    http://www.grisoft.com/doc/trial/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

Out of the products listed, only the ones listed on the compatabilty list work - Pro AV and free AV versions.

The AS (suite) versions do not at this time.

    Regards - Charles

again thank you. i looked at the list and im surprised that softwin bitdefenders av 10+ is listed. i like bitdefender and so do my clients but when i installed on a new dell with vista business i had nothing but problems. uninstalled and reinstalled with their tech support 3 times and all 3 times i had to do a system restore to get the machine functional. would lock up tight and even trying to uninstall would not work. kept on telling me the uninstaller was not valid and again when i restored to previous point all worked just fine even the uninstall routine for other apps. for the time being i will stick to either the free avg or pccillian. pccillian worked like i said before just like they advertised it would. wish zonealarm would get on the band wagon cuz i am a big fan of their products up to now anyway....greg
