Not about an issue but about an odd inconsistency.

When I bought my Dell box some months ago Adobe Reader v7.0.8 was pre-installed - I upgraded shortly after to v7.0.9. No problems, and indeed, no issues until a couple of days ago when, unexpectedly, I started getting warnings that Adobe Update Manger was incompatible with Vista.

A quick check on the Adobe site confirmed that v7.x was not Vista compatible, but v8.x was. Obviously, I downloaded v8.1.1 and there are no further issues.

My query is: just why did it take Vista so long to realise that Adobe Reader v7.x was incompatible?

Adobe Update Manger which is different then the product itself would be the culprit.

My guess is that Adobe didn't something to the manager that triggered the flag in Vista.

Did you maybe not use Adobe for a while? It surprised me as to how LONG it took for Adobe to come out with 8.1, the first Vista-capable version.
