That is spyware. Apparently Rav has some spyware included in their definition tables, while the others do not. It could be for the simple reason that it does not meet one criteria for defining a virus. A virus duplicates itself, spyware does not, although it seems to put itself back from another file that was installed at the same time.

Look Here although I found it interesting that the few sites that recognized IsBar.P were non-English ones.

Trend should now find it and calls it TROJ_ISTBAR.D or Win32.IstBar.P and only RAV and Kaspersky recognize those names. Wonder what the other AV programs are calling it.

Any body besides me wish they would standardize the name of these blasted things?

    not only viruses

There is another term for Code we don't want on our machines than Worm or Virus:

    MALWARE

Any Code, that compromises my machine, starting actions without my explicit permission, is inacceptable.
(let's skip the "windows does this" discussion here, please: I know it does but that's another story)

    ___________________________________

    Malware is:

Viruses: replication mechanism mandatory, attach their code to other files, destructive payload optional
    (http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/virus.shtml)

Worms: replication mechanism mandatory, repilcats and spread autonomously, destructive payload optional
    (http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/worm.shtml)

Jokes: do funny/annoying things with Your PC, are not destructive, but: still malware!

Trojans: programs that run usually undetected on Your PC doing things You definitely don't want. Usually destructive.

Backdoors: open ports on Your PC to make it accessible by hackers.

Hoaxes: chain letters with a fake virus warning. The Virus is in the peoples heads :)
NO AV vendor nor MS send out Virus oe Security Alerts globally. MS doesn't do this at all, AV vendors only when You subscribe to a service You usually have to pay for.

    About Spyware:
    Spyware is for datamining.
In some countries protection of data privacy is quite poor and datamining is fully legal.
In coutries taking this issue more serios datamining is illegal, and so is spyware that installes without notification (still a twilight zone, 'thought).

Spyware is not considered as malware because YOU installed in on Your computer.

! That's why it won't be detected by any AV !

If it is installed without notification You can complain to the vendor or about the vendor at Your authorities.

But, well: there are a lot of tools to remove Spyware. Thats maybe the easier way :))
