Virus from Facebook attacked my computer, wiping everything in my HD but fortunately, I backed up all my files however is it possible for me to re-format hard drive to eliminate virus remaining inside and then re-install Win XP? My Dell CPU has system restore which can return a system to working condition without a full reinstallation then do manual reinstallation.

Please let me know if it's ok to use that HD that was infected with virus?

    Thanks!

after you reformat your hard drive you should be able to install windows xp again without any worry that the virus will still be present. Reformatting your hard basically erases everything leaving a blank hard drive. But a reformatting will work and no virus should be present after that

If you are really worried, do the format that takes 23 hours or so.
