I don't know of any way to deny a certain user the ability to download certain file types. There may be one but I can't figure it out right now.

I think another approach will work better for you anyway. You can set a disk space usage Quota for a user so he/she can only use a portion of the drive(s) up to the maximum size you want. Then the user must decide what to keep and what to delete.

To use Quotas you must be formatted NTFS. Easy enough to convert if you are using FAT file storage now.

If NTFS, right-click on My Computer, left-click on Properties, click on the Quota tab. You can set the limits from here but you need to be careful to set them for the user you want rather than for yourself. :D :D

I can't do screen shots right now since I'm at work and on a Domain member PC so the settings are different. Take a look and if you need specific how-to information and no one else has stepped in, I'll do it from home tomorrow.

I do have to say that I have a lousy memory though. If you don't have a good answer by 11am EST (it's 11pm now so you can calculate the time where you are), send me email via the forum with a link to this thread and a reminder of what I'm supposed to do.

    To elaborate ....

Start > Help and Support > search Disk Quota > Deny disk space to users who exceed their limit.

Double click on My Computer and right click on the drive on which you want to set up the quota > Properties > Quota Tab

Check 'Enable Quota Management' - screenshot - and then 'Deny disk space to users .....' and follow on through. More help in Help and Support under Related Topics at the bottom of the page above.

You're welcome :) Not a feature I've had the need to use, but glad to hear that it worked for you. Thanks for the update.
