 I am having trouble getting into the user accounts in the control panel. I double click and nothing happens. It won't open. Not even if I do control alt del and go to users. How do I fix this problem? I got my pc through renta center it's all paid off now for about two months but I didn't get the software that normally comes with a computer. I have a friend who works for them trying her best to get the software but so far no luck until then what can I do? My computer in a compaq and on the top right of my computer it says 7500. It is a pesario. I'm stumpped!!!
    Thank you for any help!

Click on start, click on run, key in compmgmt.msc and click OK. Once the window opens, you should have Local Users & Groups as an option.

It should look like this and in the Users folder are all your accounts.

this is what mine looks like

it looks like your but after the shared folders it says performance logs and alerts. Why is that? I also went to microsoft xp newsgroup and they said to do start run compmgmt.msg and i did that and it says i'm on user to change to administrater and password and I did tha but now I can't get back to it. My user name is griffiths and password is 202020 and it won't work. What am I doing wrong? Should I just get a new pc?

That is probably the difference. I run pro and forget that the home version acts differently in some cases.

I think you have to boot up in Safe Mode to work on user accounts and especially on the administrator account.

griffith8240: You should be able to open & work with User Accounts from the Control Panel in Windows.

What happens if you type control userpasswords2 in the Run box? (Start > Run) and press OK.

I do and have the install CDs for the other operating systems. Just haven't gotten the deed done to load them - yet.
