usb port

    I have 2 usb ports one which appers to be not working. I can use scanner and printer on 1 but not the other. Any help would be aprreciated

    Hi Lin - Welcome to the Board :)

    A strong possibility that the second USB port is faulty - mechanically or electrically. As they are (generally) side by side they will most likely share a connection with the motherboard.

    A solution to this problem is to use a hub which plugs into your good USB port and has 4 or more USB ports. Two sorts - powered by separate power supply and powered from the PC. I would tend towards a powered hub, but be aware that some peripherals are a bit picky about the type of hub they are plugged into.

    If you can borrow one from a friend and try before you buy.
