Hi me back AGAIN just seems to be one problem after another since i have had my computer wiped and cleaned

This is my problem now, have added my printer and phone and everything went fine saying your printer/ phone is now ready to use, but when i went to print i got error code saying the USB device has not been reconised and the same goes when i tried to connect my phone. These where all working fine before my computer went down, so any ideas what has happened now. I have also tried adding new hardware to see if computer would find it but nothing.

Please Help it's driving me insane

Do you know if the chipset drivers for the motherboard were installed when the computer was wiped and reloaded?

Do you have the disks that were supplied with the computer? They should include one with the drivers.

Often, if the Windows system is installed from an image, there will be a folder "Drivers" under the C: drive. You would need to go through those and install them.

Look in the system's manual, it may tell you about installing drivers.

If you wish to seek out the drivers yourself, you will need to know the model numbers of the hardware.

Go back to where you had the system "repaired ". Tell them you seem to having driver problems and ask them if they installed the drivers.

You may not have any of the manufacturer's drivers installed, so you may need all the others as well, like graphics, audio, LAN/Ethernet or others if you have the hardware.

My first suggestion would be to find any drivers disk that came with the system or see if there are driver installers in a folder on the hard drive.

If you need specific help, you will need to tell us the make and model of the system, otherwise make enquires with the people that reinstalled the system.

    Hi
Thanks for all your help sorry only getting back to you now, only got my computer back today from the shop, he said i had a virus and had to wipe and clean again  Which i dont believe as i had some problems as soon as i got it back off him the first time i got it wiped and cleaned with him, but what can i do but take his word for it.

The first time i left it in i got him to install firewire card for me but it wasn't working either so i told him about that, and have just noticed on my reciept that he has charged me again to install it ( i wasn't there to pick it up) Does this sound right if he had to wipe and clean again would he have to charge me AGAIN for the firewire card that i paid for the first time around

    Thanks again for your advice
    Irishchick :)

I would be asking him the details. Is he installing any drivers or driver updates? Did the virus stop the USB from functioning correctly? Let him know you had problems as soon as you got it back the first time. Ask him about the charge for the firewire card.

If you think he is overcharging you, start making enquires with your government's "consumer watchdog" and see what legal rights you have (if you let him know you are going to take that course, he may reconsider and refund you "under warranty" for his work). If you get shoddy workmanship you need to make a noise about it. I have had to take that course in the past with a car dealer that repeatedly returned my car without doing any repairs under warranty, hoping that the warranty would run out in the meantime.

    Thanks Matt
Yes he said the virus stopped the USB from working, he was told that i had problems as soon as i got it back from him even before i installed any software myself.
Said he will speak to his boss but had to charge me full price again because of the virus, when i mentioned the Firewire card on the phone to him he said to bring down the Two reciepts to him, but of course just my luck i cant find my first reciept
Teach me to be more careful in the future, but Thanks a million for your help much appreciated ;)

Good work asking the questions. Hope you find the receipts.

Just a tip, don't open any unidentified emails, files via messaging programs and scan any downloads from unknown sources by right clicking on them and you will find an option to scan the file with your antivirus.

    Good luck.

Hi there Irishchick :) do you know if the smart man has re-installed your Printer Driver, if you happen to have a Canon Printer they are very fussy about driver installation. The driver must be installed before the Printer USB cable is connected and the Printer turned on.
We can help you on a bit further if you so wish, by downloading CPU-Z from here:
    http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
tell us the Motherboard you have in your PC and we can guide you to the Download site for you're Chipset drivers and I am sure Matt will guide you through the process (thanks Matt I know you will do it).

It appears to be an ECS motherboard.

Use the link "How to check model/version ", it has 3 versions, but the main drivers are the same. There are separate USB 2.0 drivers and the chipset drivers are under the heading IDE (VIA 4 in 1).

This is the drivers page for Version (Revision) 1.0
    http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Do...ver&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=0
If you need to navigate to another version, select Motherboards -> Socket 754 -> Model K8M800-M2 -> Version number -> Drivers tab.

A pleasure, especially compared to tutoring my sister. The other day I was telling her why her computer was working badly. She is a teacher and I would rather have been tutoring her 5 year old students :D. I went for a checkup at the doctors afterwards. She said my blood pressure was exceptionally high and asked if something was stressing me :D:D
