Looks like my original post went walkabout. Never mind I will post again with some more info. Plugged in :confused:a Logitech Gamepad (which I beleive is USB2.0 so is my puter). But it does not work, documentation says Control Panel/Game Controllers screen:- gamepad =OK(which it does) controller ID = 1(which shows 0). Now the device works as I tried on another computer. Checked Device Manager which says that "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" is on IRQ 21-
But so is Nvidia MCP61 Serial ATA controller. I have downloaded and installed all new drivers with no issues. But should these two controllers be on different IRQ's. Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller is on IRQ 20.

Please help this is driving me insane.

    Hi,

(From how I read the information), there is an Enhanced USB Controller on the other computer, but your computer does not list an "Enhanced" USB Contoller. That means your USB drivers are not installed correctly if it is USB 2.0.

The USB drivers are part of the chipset(motherboard) drivers. Look for an update of the chipset/motherboard drivers.

If I connected gamepad and it did not work, I would look at higher level drivers, that is, the USB Controller drivers, rather than resource (IRQ) allocation.

If the Universal Serial Bus Controllers in Device Manager do not include a controller entitled "Enhanced" your system does not appear to be running USB 2.0 or it is not capable of running USB 2.0 (although I would expect the gamepad should be backwards compatible to USB 1.1).

Find an update for the USB Controller drivers and that means the chipset(motherboard) drivers.

    Matt
Edit: Look in Add/Remove Programs for a listing for the gamepad, uninstall it while you make any adjustments and then try reinstalling the Logitech drivers/software again.
