I know this question must have been asked a dozen times....but what's the final verdict on installing XP over a relatively stable Win98SE ??

I wouldn't mind trying XP but I don't want to go to the hassle of reinstalling everything else when 98 is so stable.

Why doesn't someone write an applet that will read and record your registry settings in 98 and translate them into a .reg file that can be merged with the XP registry (does it have one?) after a "clean" install? That way you could simply delete Win98, boot from the XP CD and when the install is done, run the applet to re-register all your apps and your drivers.

    TIA

    Hi DWFII
I'm not sure how to answer your question, except to say that if you have a clean running 98, then by all means stick with it. Though you've always got options if you want to try out XP? You could always dual boot, or you could add another hard drive? You could ghost your present drive, and if Xp's not your cup of tea, go back to your 98 from your drive image? Always options. :)
